Weddings are a special event and bagpipes can help add a great sense of occasion to enhance your day. Hiring a Bagpiper to play at your wedding, dressed in full regalia, playing beautiful wedding music will help set the tone for a memorable day. I’ve been playing the Bagpipes at weddings for the last 30 years and I’ll do everything possible to ensure you have a wonderful wedding experience.
A wedding ceremony offers many opportunities to add a Bagpipe player to your wedding experience. Many times it may depend upon the type of wedding you will have. Marriages in the Catholic Church may have certain restrictions on Bagpipe playing inside the church as some Priests believe that the Bagpipe is still associated with being an instrument of war. You may want to ask your Priest for his views if you are considering using Bagpipe music in the ceremony.
I am also available for wedding rehearsals and I can help you pick the perfect tunes for your special wedding day.
In other churches or venues my Bagpipe music may be the only music for the ceremony. We can discuss all the details and your wishes with your initial phone consultation.
Wedding Bagpipe Music Options
Here are some examples of how my Bagpipe music can be played at your wedding. All of these options can be performed in a church, wedding venue, or any outside wedding venue.
This is also where switching to the sweet mellow sounds of my Smallpipes would be appropriate for indoor play while I can switch back to my Bagpipes for playing at outside entrances.
- Pre-Ceremony playing where I entertain your wedding guests 20-30 minutes before the bride arrives. This can be done outdoors by the entrance to the ceremony or inside the church or venue.
- Playing the Mother’s of the bride and groom into the ceremony and then followed by the bridesmaids.
- Announcing the arrival of the bride at the ceremony and playing as she walks down the aisle.
- At the conclusion of the ceremony, I will play recessional music for the formal exit of the bride and groom up the aisle and then for the bridal party including the bridesmaids and groomsmen.
- Playing after the ceremony as guests depart for the reception
- For a more dramatic entrance to the ceremony, I can start with a prelude and then when everyone’s ready I will lead down the aisle for the processional and everyone follows me. As you can see, it’s really your wishes and preferences for how you would like to include my wedding bagpipe music.

- Entertaining the guests as they are arriving into the reception area.
- Playing to announce the arrival of the bride and groom to the reception.
- Piping the bride and groom into the reception and to their head table once all the guests are seated.
- I can pipe in all the members of the wedding party for a grand entrance to the reception.
- I can play at your reception during the cocktail hour with my Smallpipes for soft mellow music.
